Sky win in a record blowout

Kahleah Copper scored 20 points and Courtney Vandersloo­t added 16 to help host Chicago to a record rout of New York 100-62, tying the first-round WNBA playoffs series on Saturday and forcing a decisive Game 3 on Tuesday.

Candace Parker added 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for the Sky, who broke their own WNBA record for largest margin of victory in the playoffs. Chicago won by 36 in Game 3 of the Finals against the Phoenix Mercury last year.

“You credit New York, they came out and beat us on our home floor [in Game 1],” said Vandersloo­t, who shot seven for 10 from the field and had nine rebounds. “We knew that wasn’t going to happen again.”

Chelsea Gray had 27 points and eight assists and hit a career-high seven of the Aces’ WNBA playoff-record 23 three-pointers as Las Vegas swept the series.

Las Vegas also set WNBA playoff marks for consecutiv­e field goals made to open a game (10) and most threepoint­ers in a half (11) against the depleted Mercury.

Las Vegas will play Seattle or Washington in the semifinals.
