Williams sisters to play doubles

Serena and Venus Williams were given a wildcard entry for women’s doubles at the U.S. Open. This marks their first tournament as a team in more than four years. They have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles together.

Liudmila Samsonova of Russia won her second straight WTA Tour title, beating seventh-seeded Aliaksandr­a Sasnovich of Belarus 6-1, 6-3 in the championsh­ip match at Tennis in the Land in Cleveland.
