> Local roastery Canyon Coffee has opened a coffee shop in Echo Park, with fresh pastries, sandwiches, toasts and home-coffee items such as ceramic mugs by local artists and Chemex systems. The seasonal food menu includes smashed-butter-bean sandwiches with miso and arugula; focaccia tomato sandwiches; tuna toast with capers and shallot; and labneh tartine with citrusfermented honey and buckwheat crunch. Baker Sasha Piligian will provide a range of tea cakes, cookies and other pastries. Drinks include draft lattes in flavors such as fig leaf, chai and oat, plus a tea program from Alhambra’s Tea Habitat.
