BLONDE BOMBSHELL
Based on the bestselling novel by Joyce Carol Oates, Blonde (Sept. 23 on Netflix) is a fictionalized examination of the life of Norma Jeane Mortenson (baptized Baker), chronicling her transition from the abused daughter of a single mother into movie bombshell Marilyn Monroe. “We wanted to tell the human side of her story,” says star Ana de Armas, 34. The actress from Knives Out and No Time to Die underwent an extensive transformation in the makeup chair to become one of the world’s most famous blondes. “Fame is what made Marilyn the most visible person in the world,” says de Armas, “but it also made Norma the most invisible.”
