Action plan aims to protect Yellow River

Chinese authoritie­s unveiled a plan on conserving the Yellow River, the country’s second longest, on Aug 31, saying 2,700 square miles of degraded natural forest would be restored and almost 5,400 square miles of land suffering from desertific­ation in its basin would be treated by 2025. Aside from measures for ecological conservati­on and remediatio­n, the action plan also listed water pollution control as one of the priorities in protecting the Yellow River.
