JUDGE DREDD, 1995

“That’s a sad one because I think it had all of the potential to be a great franchise, and it dealt with something that is relevant right now: the idea of the police becoming judge, jury and executioner. I took my eye off the ball on that film.”

COP LAND, 1997

“In 1995 I went from being named ‘Best Abs’ to 1996, having no abs. I took on a lot of health issues when I gained that much weight for the role, but I wanted to show that an ‘action guy’ could do this. Action films get so demeaned, but those big films are the foundation that allows smaller films like Cop Land to be made.”

THE EXPENDABLES, 2010

“The idea for this came from going to an oldies concert, and it was just horrible. You know, it’s Three Dog Night, but only one [original] dog is still there. The lead singer of Blood, Sweat & Tears had a huge gut. But the audience was there to see all of these legendary acts on one stage, and I thought if we did that in a film, the curiosity factor would be off the charts.”

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD, 2019

“Rambo is me before coffee in the morning. Rocky is me after coffee.”
