The world needs more solar roofs
Re “State solar rules must change,” letters, Nov. 16
The president and chief executive of Edison International writes that the current California net metering rules are detrimental to his customers who do not have solar roof panels. He fails to recognize that the original Public Utilities Commission proposal was detrimental to the necessary expansion of solar power across the state.
I have both solar roof panels and a battery that I use during peak electric hours. I also have an electric vehicle that charges at super off-peak rates. My bill for the last 12 months was $240.
Obviously I like the current net metering rules but am certainly willing to see different ones that offer incentives for installing rooftop solar panels while also helping keep bills steady for those who cannot afford them. Our planet needs more rooftop solar usage.
