November 11, 1933 - November 11, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of Marsha Gale Adler (nee Sloan) who passed on her 89th birthday. Born to Ida and Morris Sloan in Cleveland, Ohio, Marsha was the eldest of three girls. At age 12, her family moved west to Los Angeles where she later attended Hamilton High School. After graduation, while working as a legal secretary, Marsha attended a USO dance and chanced upon gangly Navy sailor, Harry Adler, who would become the love of her life. Marsha and Harry married and began a rich 69-year union lasting until his recent passing this past September.

In 1962, Harry and Marsha moved to Orange County and together built a successful retail shoe business while raising four children. Although she thrived in the business world, Marsha’s true passion in life was being a mother and doling out hugs, meals and encouraging words-- not only to her children but to their friends as well. The Adler household was always a welcome refuge for family, friends, and acquaintances all drawn in by the mouth-watering aroma coming from Marsha’s bountiful kitchen.

When she wasn’t being a MOM TO ALL she might be found supporting Segerstrom Hall (an original Patron), playing mahjong with friends or indulging herself at one of her many book and social clubs. She found peace and serenity tending her gardens and she amazed visitors with her menagerie of reptiles, owls, birds, and dogs.

Blessed with a cheerful disposition and a boundless sense of humor, Marsha will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her. Marsha had a special relationship with every family member. Simply being the best Mom, Granny, or Gigi is truly how she will be remembered. Giving comfort and leaving joyful smiles at every occasion was Marsha’s hallmark. Her cherished final years were spent at her home loving and being loved by those who graced her doorway.

She is survived by her four children Michael (Beth) Adler, Steven (Janice) Adler, Rhonda (Todd) Page, and David (Carol) Adler, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her sister Eileen Milstein, and many nieces and nephew. In addition to her husband Harry, Marsha was predeceased by her parents and sister Delores Foreman.

We are grateful to Laura, Emilio, and Elvia who made the last few years of Marsha’s life easier with their love and care.

The Adler family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, https://www. michaeljfox.org
