Donovan, Beasley make Hall of Fame

Landon Donovan and

DaMarcus Beasley were elected Saturday to the U.S. National Soccer Hall of Fame and will be inducted May 6, 2023 along with Lauren Cheney Holiday.

Donovan was picked on 46 of 48 ballots for 95.8% of the vote. Beasley appeared on 45 ballots (93.8%) and Cheney Holiday on 40 ballots (83.3%).

Donovan, 40, was a midfielder and forward who scored 57 goals in 157 internatio­nal appearance­s from 2000 to 2014 and is tied with

Clint Dempsey for the U.S. scoring record. Donovan won four MLS titles with the Galaxy.

Beasley, 40, became the first American to play in four World Cups. A defender and midfielder, he scored 17 goals in 126 internatio­nal appearance­s from 2001 to 2017.

coordinato­r Kenny Dillingham the youngest head football coach in a Power Five conference.

A person with knowledge of the negotiatio­ns told the Associated Press that the 32-year-old Phoenix native was on the verge of becoming the head coach at the school he graduated from just 10 years ago.

Dillingham would replace the fired Herman Edwards.
