Dodgers 7 Oakland 2

- — Dylan Hernandez

AT THE PLATE: Dee Gordon showed why opposing pitchers don’t want to walk him. The speedy shortstop drew a first-inning walk, stole second base and scored on a double by Mark Ellis for the game’s first run. Matt Kemp drove in his first run of the spring later that inning on a single. Andre Ethier hit a two-run double in the fifth inning, his third extra-base hit in three games. Ethier’s double came against a left-hander, Sean Doolittle. Adam Kennedy, a utility man who was the Dodgers’ designated hitter, was two for two with a run scored and a run batted in.

ON THE MOUND: Newcomer Chris Capuano, the projected No. 5 starter, pitched two scoreless innings and earned the win. The left-hander gave up two hits and struck out three. Middle relievers Matt Guerrier, Mike Macdougal and Todd Coffey each pitched a scoreless inning. So did lefthander John Grabow, a non-roster player who is looking to win the spot in the bullpen that is open because of Blake Hawksworth’s injury.

EXTRA BASES: Josh Fields, a former top prospect for the Chicago White Sox who played in Japan last year, collected his fourth hit of the spring in the seventh inning. He is batting .800, prompting Manager Don Mattingly to say he will try to get him more playing time at third base. “You know what’s good for me?” Mattingly said. “I’ve seen Josh when he was with the White Sox. His swing was different.”

UP NEXT: Clayton Kershaw faces the Texas Rangers and Martin Perez at noon PST Friday at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz.
