FOR THE RECORD

-

Ken McRoyal: An article in the June 3 California section about the life of University of Idaho football player Ken McRoyal, who was killed two days after returning home to Carson for the summer, referred to his father as “absentee.” His father, who worked abroad for many years, raised McRoyal in his early childhood and had remained in touch with McRoyal.

Boy Scouts: An article in the June 9 Section A about a Boy Scout policy that bans gay troop leaders and scouts said the group’s national executive council would vote next May on a resolution to change the policy. The council will receive a report on the resolution by May, but a vote may or may not be held at that time. The article also said that the resolution was prompted by a petition drive against the ban. The resolution was crafted before the petition was launched.

Arizona killings: A June 3 article in Section A about five possibly drug-related slayings in the Arizona desert said that Pinal County’s population is about 4,000. It is nearly 400,000.

Summer books: In the June 3 special section on summer books, the novel “Dead Stars” by Bruce Wagner was included under the young adult category. Although one of the novel’s characters is a young teen in Hollywood, “Dead Stars” should have been grouped with adult fiction/beach reads.
