“Series of Unfortunate Events: The Vile Village”

Lemony Snicket

The three Baudelaire children — Klaus, Sunny, and Violet — are orphans who go to the town of V.F.D. to be raised by the whole town. Then they find out that it wasn’t a good choice because there are about 19,833 rules in the town. Worst of all, they have to do chores for the entire town. I loved this story. Read the rest if you want. But I have to tell you they have a very miserable life.

Cricket is hoping to go to Washington, D.C., to see the White House during spring break with her best friend. Two days before break, Cricket trips and falls and breaks her ankle.
