Preseason adjustment for Bryant

As the Lakers continue to fine- tune the team this preseason, star player Kobe Bryant hasmadea tweak of his own, adjusting the price on his Newport Coast home to slightly under $ 7.6 million.

The gated residence, built in Mediterran­ean style in1997, sits among tall palms in a guard- gated community with unobstruct­ed ocean and city views. Walnut flooring and limestone finishes are a common theme throughout the 8,741square feet of living space, which includes four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and three half- baths.

Amongthe features are an 850- square- foot gym, a hair salon and a home theater complete with a lobby, stadium seating and awet bar. The master suite sports a private sitting room, a marble- lined bathroom and a newly addedwalk- in closet. In thewood- paneled office/ library is a shark tank.

Bryant, 36, has looked like his familiar self during preseason scrimmages, showing off an array of moves while trash- talking his fellow teammates. The 16- time all- star is slated to start opposite Steve Nash in the Lakers backcourt after missing all but six games last season because of injury.

Public records showthat the home last sold in October199­7 for $ 1.7 million. The property originally came to market in August 2013 with an asking price of $ 8.599 million andwas offered for just under $ 8 million earlier this year.

Phillies star pitches rental

Chase Utley, the former UCLA baseball product and decorated second baseman for the Philadelph­ia Phillies, is trying his hand at a new position this off- season: landlord.

The six- time all- star has listed his penthouse in Philadelph­ia for rent at $ 17,500 a month. Alternativ­ely, the unit can be purchased for $ 4.3 million.

Located atop the Ayer Building, the triplex features designer interiors with arched windows, a private elevator and views of the Philadelph­ia cityscape. The 4,588 square feet of living space includes entertaine­r’s spaces, an expanded Bulthaup kitchen, four bedrooms and four full bathrooms.

The top- floor master suite, complete with his and hers closets and a spa- like bath, overlooks the living room through awall of floortocei­ling glass.

Utley, 35, counts four Silver Slugger awards and a World Series title ( 2008) among his accolades. The Pasadena native hit .270 with 11 home runs and 78 RBIs with the Phillies this season and made his sixth All-Star Game appearance.

The residence originally came to market last year for the current list price, public records show. Utley and his wife, Jen, paid $ 4.19 million for the unit in 2008.

Former Angel reloads in Irvine

Retired Major League Baseball outfielder Jim Edmonds is taking another swing at selling his estate in Irvine.

The former Angels star has put his Santa Barbara style residence back on the market at $ 6.95 million. The property listed for sale last year at $ 7.999 million, but saw its price reduced twice before being pulled fromthe market in early June.

The custom home, built in 2008, occupies nearly an acre in the Shady Canyon golf course community with a detached guest casita, expansive loggias, an outdoor kitchen and a pool and spa.

The three- story floor plan counts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms in 10,000 square feet. Among features is a gameroom, a movie theater, a wine cellar and a gym with a sauna.

Edmonds, 44, spent the bulk of his career with the Angels and Cardinals, notching eight Gold Glove awards, four All- Star appearance­s and a World Series title ( 2006) in17 seasons. The Fullerton native now works as a broadcaste­r for Fox Sports Midwest.

Records showthat Edmonds purchased the property in January 2008. Jacqueline Thompson of Surterre Properties is nowthe listing agent.

Ex- Duck lists beachfront pad

NHL goaltender Jonas Hiller, formerly of the Anaheim Ducks, has listed his home in Newport Beach for sale at $ 5.25 million.

The custom residence, built in 2008, sits among a row of oceanfront homes in West Newport with a beach facing patio, a rooftop deck and views extending from the coastline to Catalina Island.

The tri- level floor plan features bi- folding doors, custom lighting and vaulted ceilings. The main floor has a chef’s kitchen, a breakfast bar and formal living room that opens onto the entertaine­r’s patio.

The second- floor master suite comes with a fireplace, an updated bath and a private balcony with unobstruct­ed ocean views. An additional bedroom suite touts four built- in bunk beds and a private balcony.

Hiller, who signed a two- year, $ 9- million free agent contract with the Calgary Flames this offseason after seven seasons with the Ducks, paid $ 4 million for the custom residence in December 2010.

Home has Notre Dame heritage

Here’s one for the Domers: A South Bend, Ind., home where NotreDame legend Knute Rockne once lived has come to market for $ 500,000.

TheTudor-style residence, located in the East Wayne Street historic district, was commission­ed by Rockne himself and completed in1929, two years before the football player and coach perished in a plane crash in Kansas. His wake was later held at the residence.

Located a few blocks from the NotreDame campus, the historic residence retains its period ambience with original details including leaded glass windows, a limestone fireplace and wrought- iron fixtures.

The two- story floor plan includes a formal living room, dining room, four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one partial bath in nearly 4,200 square feet of living space.

Rockne was an AllAmerica­n player at Notre Dame and led the Fighting Irish to a105- 12- 5 record, including five undefeated seasons and three national championsh­ips, in13 years as coach. Hedied in an airplane crash in Kansas in1931 while traveling to the set of the film “The Spirit of Notre Dame.”

The listing represents the first time that the residence has been offered for sale publicly. Following his death, Rockne’s widow, Bonnie, and their family lived at the home until her death in1956. The home was later sold to family friends, whose children have now listed the property for sale.
