Murray signs 5-year deal with Eagles
DeMarco Murray got the money he wanted from his former team’s biggest rival.
After four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, the All-Pro running back agreed Thursday to a fiveyear contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. Murray’s deal was valued at $42 million, with $21 million guaranteed, according to a person familiar with the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity because terms weren’t disclosed.
Less than two hours later, the Eagles confirmed they had reached agreement on a three-year contract with former San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews .
The two join Darren Sproles and Chris Polk in the backfield.
Murray will replace two-time All-Pro LeSean McCoy .
In other NFL moves, Baltimore running back Justin Forsett agreed to a three-year contract that will keep him with the Ravens. He comes off the finest season of his seven-year career, rushing for 1,266 yards and eight touchdowns.
Cornerback Brandon Browner heads to New Orleans for a threeyear deal worth about $18 million.
The New York Jets brought back Antonio Cromartie , to team with newly returned Darrelle Revis on the corners. Cromartie, 30, gets a four-year contract worth $32 million in base salary. The Jets resigned guard Willie Colon to a oneyear deal.
Another defensive back on the move was safety Nate Allen , from Philadelphia to Oakland on a fouryear contract.
After adding Frank Gore in free agency earlier in the week, Indianapolis cut Trent Richardson , the third overall pick by Cleveland in 2012 who came to the Colts in a trade last year. Richardson never made an impact in Indianapolis.
Kansas City released unproductive receiver Dwayne Bowe and saved $14 million against the salary cap. On Wednesday, the Chiefs wrapped up a $55-million, five-year deal with receiver Jeremy Maclin .
Receiver Stevie Johnson was released by the 49ers.
Houston signed safety Rahim Moore , who started all 16 games in 2014 for the Broncos, setting a career high with four interceptions.
