Woods practices at Augusta National

- — Chris Foster

Tiger Woods played a practice round Tuesday at Augusta National, a strong indication that the four-time champion could make his return at the Masters next week.

Woods has not played since he withdrew at Torrey Pines on Feb. 5 after 11 holes because of tightness in his back during a fog-delayed opening round. A week later, he said he would return to competition when he had the game for it.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant had bone graft surgery for a fracture in his right foot, and the team expects he’ll return to basketball activities in four to six months.

Leading by one goal at halftime against Switzerland, U.S. Coach Juergen Klinsmann warned his players: “Never joke with an Italian referee.” They didn’t listen.

Jozy Altidore was ejected in the 68th minute for a foul followed by what appeared to be a profane comment to Italian referee Luca Banti , and the United States gave up another late goal in a 1-1 tie in Zurich.

Brek Shea put the U.S. ahead in the 45th minute with his fourth international goal. The game turned when Altidore fouled Francois Moubandje from behind, earning a yellow card. When Altidore yelled at Banti, the forward was shown a red card.

Switzerland tied it in the 80th following a short corner kick. Substitute Valentin Stocker scored from two yards against goalkeeper William Yarbrough , who came in at the start of the second half for his national team debut.

The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Matt Schaub to a oneyear contract. The 33-year-old Schaub has 90 career starts but is expected to contend for backup to Joe Flacco . ... The Green Bay Packers resigned defensive tackles Letroy Guion and B.J. Raji . ... Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is joining the Philadelphia Eagles on a one-year deal.

Coach Nick Saban kicked a second Alabama football player off the team, swiftly dismissing reserve running back Tyren Jones after his arrest on suspicion of marijuana possession. Jones is the third player in the program arrested in the last four days, and the second to be dismissed.

Receiver Devin Lucien has left the UCLA football team and will attempt to transfer as a graduate student, according to a person familiar with the situation. Lucien has one year of eligibility remaining.

The Kansas City Royals released three-time All-Star shortstop Rafael Furcal , two weeks after he signed a minor league deal.

Furcal, 37, was a member of the Dodgers from 2006 to 2011, when he was traded to St. Louis.

America’s Cup teams have voted to reduce the size of boats to be sailed in the 2017 regatta in Bermuda, a costcutting move that could lead to the two strongest challengers dropping out. It’s believed Italy’s Luna Rossa and Emirates Team New Zealand voted against the proposal.
