Oscars: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and ABC on Thursday announced dates for the next three Oscars: Feb. 28, 2016; Feb. 26, 2017; and March 4, 2018. Although the Oscars typically take place in February, the 2018 ceremony will be in March to avoid competing with the Winter Olympics.

Burns: To mark the 150th anniversar­y of the end of the Civil War and the assassinat­ion of President Abraham Lincoln, PBS will air a highdefini­tion print of Ken Burns’ documentar­y “The Civil War,” touted as the first time viewers will see the series the way Burns shot it. The nine-part series will air Sept. 7-11.

Rio: Organizers of Rock in Rio USA announced Thursday that single-day general admission tickets will be sold for the concert, to be held on consecutiv­e weekends in May at a newly constructe­d site on the Las Vegas Strip. Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Sam Smith, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, No Doubt, Linkin Park and Foster the People are some of the major acts set to play. Single-day general admission tickets will be $169.
