Kyle Busch will race this weekend

Less than three months after suffering serious injuries when he crashed into a concrete wall at Daytona, Kyle Busch will return to racing in NASCAR’s All-Star race this weekend following a rapid recovery his doctors called remarkable.

Busch will run in Saturday night’s event at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has been sidelined since a Feb. 21 crash in the Xfinity Series opener in which he broke his right leg and left foot in an accident that spurred safety reviews throughout NASCAR.

Belarus secured the last spot in the quarterfin­als of the hockey world championsh­ip by beating Norway, 3-2, while the United States beat Slovakia, 5-4, in overtime and Canada thrashed Austria, 10-1 in their final group games. Belarus will face Canada in the next round. Jack Eichel scored on a wrist shot with 28 seconds left in overtime to give the U.S. a 5-4 victory over Slovakia. The American will face Switzerlan­d in the quarterfin­als.

Latvia’s Tom Skujins pedaled to a surprising mountain stage win by more than a minute and took the lead in the Tour of California at San Jose. The 23year-old began Stage 3 in 95th position and trailed previous race leader Mark Cavendish of Britain by 42 seconds.

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic returned from three weeks off and showed some signs of rust in a 6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-3 win over Spanish opponent Nicolas Almagro at the Italian Open at Rome.
