KEY MOMENT: The Dodgers took control of the game with a five-run fourth inning that started with a single by Howie Kendrick. Yasmani Grandal walked and Alex Guerrero singled to drive in Kendrick. Left fielder Ender Inciarte made a throwing error on Guerrero’s hit, allowing Grandal to advance to third base and Guerrero to second. Andre Ethier drove in Grandal with a single, after which Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run home run to center field. The Dodgers were up, 6-0.
AT THE PLATE: The Dodgers roughed up Rubby De La Rosa, who at one time was considered one of their top prospects. The Dodgers got to De La Rosa for nine runs and 10 hits over five innings. Ethier struck the final blow, launching a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Ethier was two for four with two runs and four runs batted in. Kendrick, who didn’t start any of the previous four games because of a sore knee, was three for four with two runs and an RBI.
ON THE MOUND: Mike Bolsinger limited his former team to two runs and three hits over seven innings. He struck out eight batters and walked two. The runs came in the sixth inning on a two-run double by A.J. Pollock. J.P. Howell pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
EXTRA BASES: Bob Baffert, the trainer of triple-crown-winning thoroughbred American Pharoah, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday at Dodger Stadium. … Rehabilitating right-handed reliever Brandon League touched 90 mph with his fastball in his minor league appearance Sunday, Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly said.
