Langer, Maggert share lead
Bernhard Langer and Jeff Maggert shared the lead Saturday over a bunched field heading into the final round of the U.S. Senior Open at Del Paso in Sacramento.
Langer, bidding for a second straight major title after winning the Senior Players Championship earlier this month, shot a two-underpar 68 and Maggert had a 70. Both were at five-under 205 for the championship.
Eight players were within a shot of the lead, including Tom Watson, Kenny Perry and defending champion Colin Montgomerie. The 65year-old Watson, who was tied with Maggert and Peter Fowler through 36 holes, salvaged a 71 after a tough round. Perry shot a 64, Montgomerie a 70.
PGA Tour
Brian Harman birdied the 18th hole for a five-under 65 and a one-stroke lead over fellow Georgia left-hander Bubba Watson and Canadian Graham DeLaet in the Travelers Championship at Cromwell, Conn.
Looking for his second PGA Tour victory, Harman had a bogey-free round to finish at 14-under 196 going into the final round at TPC River Highlands. Watson, two strokes ahead after the second round, shot a 68. DeLaet had a 64.
LPGA
Na Ye Choi matched her LPGA Tour low with an eight-under 63 to surge into the lead at 13 under in the NW Arkansas Championship at Rogers, Ark.
Choi, of South Korea, made a 45-foot eagle putt on the 18th hole for a back-nine 29. She finished her rain-delayed first round with a 66 early Saturday morning, and took the lead with her final putt of the second round.
Mi Jung Hur and Anna Nordqvist were tied for second at 11 under.
International
England’s James Morrison shot a five-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the BMW International Open in Munich. Morrison had a 16under 200 total. England’s Chris Paisley was second after a 66.
