Lincecum has hip condition


San Francisco Giants Manager Bruce Bochy said right- hander Tim Lincecum has received cortisone injections in both hips to treat a degenerati­ve condition that is not considered career- threatenin­g. Lincecum, on the disabled list since June 28 with a bruised right forearm, had an MRI test Monday. Etc.

Pittsburgh shortstop Jordy Mercer is expected to miss six weeks because of a sprained left knee, leaving the Pirates without their starting left- side infielders possibly until September. Third baseman Josh Harrison is out with a torn left thumb ligament. . . . Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton, sidelined since June 27 with a left wrist fracture but still tied for the NL lead in home runs, was cleared to begin swinging a bat. . . . Atlanta reinstated left- hander Andrew McKirahan, who was suspended 80 games after testing positive for the banned substance Ipamorelin. . . .
