Vegas, Quebec City seek NHL team
A group hoping to bring NHL hockey to Las Vegas and another group trying to bring the NHL back to Quebec City announced they had submitted formal expansion applications to the league before Monday’s deadline. Quebecor, a Canadian communications company, and Black Knight Sports and Entertainment LLC, a company led by businessman Bill Foley, each submitted a $ 10- million deposit, of which $ 2 million is nonrefundable if the application is not successful. A new arena was recently completed in Quebec City, which lost the Nordiques to Denver in 1995, and an arena is rising along the Las Vegas Strip, backed by AEG and MGM Resorts.
