Gunman’s uncle is held in Jordan

-

An uncle of the man who killed four Marines and a sailor after he opened fire on two military sites in Chattanooga has been in custody in Jordan since a day after the attacks, a lawyer said.

Abed Kader Ahmad Khateeb said that he and family members were barred from seeing his client, whom he identified as Asaad Ibrahim Asaad Haj Ali, a maternal uncle of Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez, who was killed by police after the rampage.

Computers and cellphones were taken from the man’s home, but he has not been charged, the attorney said.

A Jordanian official said the uncle and “other relevant people” were being questioned.
