Laughs, tears for ‘The Comedians’

“The Comedians” has had its last laugh on FX.

The comedy starring Billy Crystal and Josh Gad as two warring comedians forced to work together on a sitcom will not return for a second season. Despite the pedigree of its stars and the behind-the-scenes talent, the series never drew a large viewership and did not earn any Emmy nominations.

Network executives declined to give details other than that the series was not being renewed.

Its last episode premiered June 25.
