Giants’ Leake to miss a start

Mike Leake will miss a turn in the rotation for the San Francisco Giants because of a strained left hamstring.

Acquired from Cincinnati last week, Leake was to make his second start for the Giants on Friday. Instead, Ryan Vogelsong will pitch against the Chicago Cubs.

Manager Bruce Bochy said Leake felt the strain in a pregame conditioni­ng session during the recent series at Atlanta.

Stephen Strasburg will start for the Washington Nationals against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. He has been on disabled list for a little more than a month because of a left oblique strain. With Strasburg back, the team decided right-hander Doug Fister will be the long man out of the bullpen and Joe Ross will remain in the rotation. ... Kyle Lohse was removed from the Milwaukee Brewers’ pitching rotation after struggling for most of the season. The 14year veteran, 5-13 with a 6.31 ERA, was to start Friday against St. Louis. Lohse will be replaced in the rotation by Tyler Cravy (0-2, 3.60.
