Kang out at least six months after surgery

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Jung Ho Kang is expected to be out six to eight months after undergoing surgery Thursday night for a broken left leg and torn knee ligament sustained on a takeout slide at second base by Chris Coghlan of the Chicago Cubs. Kang could miss the start of the 2016 season.

Hospital stay for Nelson

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson was to stay in a hospital for a second night after being hit in the head by a line drive on Thursday. Milwaukee Manager Craig Counsell said Nelson would stay Friday night for observatio­n. A CT scan showed a contusion.
