at No. 2 Michigan State 24, Indiana 21: LJ Scott ran for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and the Spartans held on through a lackluster second half. Michigan State led 21-0 at halftime, but Purdue had the ball near midfield with a chance to tie or take the lead before David Blough threw incomplete on fourth down with about a minute to play in the game.

Iowa 10, at No. 19 Wisconsin 6: Jordan Canzeri ran for 125 yards and Iowa took advantage of four turnovers by Wisconsin quarterbac­k Joel Stave to upset the Badgers. Tight end George Kittle caught a one-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Beathard in the second quarter for the only touchdown in the game and Iowa beat a ranked opponent for the first time in its last 10 attempts. Wisconsin (3-2, 0-1) had its 10-game winning streak at Camp Randall Stadium ended, and lost for only the eighth time in its last 79 home games dating to 2004.

No. 22 Michigan 28, at Maryland 0: Desmond Morgan had nine tackles and an intercepti­on, part of a dominating defensive performanc­e by the Wolverines, who earned their second shutout in a row and have given up 15 points in their last four games.

at No. 16 Northweste­rn 27, Minnesota 0: Freshman quarterbac­k Clayton Thorson scored two touchdowns, Justin Jackson ran for 120 yards and the Wildcats’ defense turned in another strong effort. Northweste­rn has given up only three touchdowns in five games.

at Illinois 14, Nebraska 13: The Illini picked up their first victory over the Cornhusker­s since 1924, as quarterbac­k Wes Lunt connected with Geronimo Allison for a one-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds left in the game. Illinois trailed by 10 at the half and never led until the final seconds.

at Penn State 20, Army 14: Christian Hackenberg passed for 156 yards — with 82 of them and his lone touchdown coming on a three-play, go-ahead third-quarter sequence — and the Nittany Lions’ defense foiled a late Army drive.

at No. 25 Florida 38, No. 3 Mississipp­i 10: Will Grier threw four touchdown passes to four receivers — all in the first half — and the Gators upset the Rebels to give Coach Jim McElwain a signature win in his first season in Gainesvill­e. The redshirt freshman battled a stomach virus for two days before the game — feeling so ill that the Gators thought there was a chance Treon Harris might get the nod — but Grier started anyway and was sharper than ever.

at No. 9 Louisiana State 44, Eastern Michigan 22: Leonard Fournette highlighte­d his third straight 200-yard game with a 75-yard touchdown run, and the Tigers overcame a fitful performanc­e to beat the Eagles. Fournette had 233 yards and three touchdowns in 26 carries to remain among the top contenders for the Heisman Trophy.

at No. 14 Texas A&M 30, No. 21 Mississipp­i State 17: Kyle Allen threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns to help the Aggies remain undefeated with a win over the Bulldogs. Texas A&M led by 14 at halftime.

at Missouri 24, South Carolina 10: Drew Lock started at quarterbac­k for the Tigers in place of Maty Mauk, who was suspended Tuesday for violating team policies. Lock completed 21 for 28 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Tigers win their first conference game of the season.

Arkansas 24, at Tennessee 20: Alex Collins rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns as the Razorbacks defeated the Volunteers to snap a three-game skid and end their recent history of frustratio­n in close games. Jalen Hurd ran for 90 yards for Tennessee, which lost by blowing a two-touchdown lead for the third time in four weeks.

at Kentucky 34, Eastern Kentucky 27 (OT): Patrick Towles threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score in overtime, to lead the Wildcats over the Colonels. Kentucky scored two touchdowns in the final seven minutes of regulation along with the overtime touchdown to avoid a stunning upset.

at Auburn 35, San Jose State 21: Peyton Barber rushed for five touchdowns, including a decisive 36-yarder, and the Tigers beat the Spartans to snap a two-game losing streak. Auburn forced four turnovers to help overcome Tyler Ervin’s 160 rushing yards.

Vanderbilt 17, at Middle Tennessee 13: Ralph Webb ran for a 39-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter to lift the Commodores past the Blue Raiders. Vanderbilt overcame a 10-point deficit with two touchdowns in the final 6:14.

at No. 4 Texas Christian 50, Texas 7: Trevone Boykin threw five touchdown passes, four to freshman KaVontae Turpin, and the Horned Frogs rode a 30-point first quarter to a rout of the Longhorns. Josh Doctson broke the TCU record for receiving touchdowns with a pair of scores as the Horned Frogs won their 13th straight game.

at No. 15 Oklahoma 44, No. 23 West Virginia 24: Baker Mayfield passed for 320 yards and three touchdowns, and the Sooners defeated the Mountainee­rs in the Big 12 opener for both teams. Dede Westbrook caught five passes for a 107 yards and Durron Neal had 87 yards receiving for the Sooners.

at No. 20 Oklahoma State 36, Kansas State 34: Ben Grogan made a 37-yard field goal with 32 seconds remaining to lift the Cowboys past the Wildcats. Grogan rebounded to make the winner after having an extra-point attempt blocked. Last week, he made field goals from 41 and 40 yards in the final 1:33 to give the Cowboys a 30-27 victory at Texas.

at Iowa State 38, Kansas 13: Mike Warren set an Iowa State freshman record with 175 yards rushing and two touchdowns and the Cyclones throttled the Jayhawks for their first win in a Big 12 opener since 2002. Sam Richardson threw for 269 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Iowa State.

No. 11 Florida State 24, at Wake Forest 16: Dalvin Cook had a 94-yard touchdown run before leaving because of a left leg injury, and Everett Golson was 20 of 31 for 202 yards with a scoring pass as the Seminoles struggled to a victory. With 21 seconds left, a pass by the Demon Deacons’ Kendall Hinton was intercepte­d in the end zone.

North Carolina 38, at Georgia Tech 31: Quinshad Davis threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to quarterbac­k Marquise Williams in the fourth quarter, capping the Tar Heels’ comeback from a three-touchdown deficit. Williams handed off to running back T.J. Logan, who handed off to Davis. The Yellow Jackets have lost three in a row.

at Duke 9, Boston College 7: Ross Martin kicked first-half field goals of 36, 38 and 53 yards for the Blue Devils, who have won their first two league games for the third time in the last 34 years. The Eagles’ Troy Flutie accounted for the game’s lone touchdown with a 66-yard pass to Thadd Smith.

Louisville 20, at North Carolina State 13: Freshman quarterbac­k Lamar Jackson ran for 121 yards, including a 68-yard scoring sprint in the opening quarter, to lead a strong ground attack for the Cardinals. He also threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Devante Peete.

Pittsburgh 17, at Virginia Tech 13: Qadree Ollison ran for 122 yards and a second-half touchdown and the Panthers limited the Hokies to just 100 yards of offense. Pittsburgh’s defense sacked Brenden Motley seven times and intercepte­d three passes.
