CBS has hot streak going

CBS was the mostwatche­d network, but NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” was the most-watched program for the third time in the 3-week-old prime-time television season.

CBS had 11 of the week’s 20 most-watched programs, averaging 10.32 million viewers for its prime-time programmin­g between Oct. 5 and Sunday, according to live-plus-same-day figures released by Nielsen on Tuesday.

NBC was second, averaging 7.73 million, followed by ABC, which averaged 5.99 million, and Fox, which averaged 3.72 million.

The network order of finish has been identical for all three weeks of the season.

The “Sunday Night Football” game between the New York Giants averaged 19.59 million, the first time in the 5-week-old NFL season that a “Sunday Night Football” game has averaged fewer than 22 million viewers.

A portion of the game in the Eastern and Central time zones ran opposite the 92-minute, sixth-season premiere of “The Walking Dead” on AMC, which averaged 14.63 million viewers, sixth among the week’s primetime programs and first among cable programs.

The third game of the Texas Rangers-Toronto Blue Jays American League Division Series that ran opposite “Sunday Night Football” on cable’s Fox Sports 1 averaged 2.37 million viewers.

CBS had the mostwatche­d entertainm­ent program, the most-watched comedy, the most-watched new series and the mostwatche­d new comedy for the third time in the season’s three weeks.

“NCIS” was the mostwatche­d entertainm­ent program for the second consecutiv­e week, averaging 16.86 million viewers, finishing second overall.

“The Big Bang Theory” was the most-watched comedy, averaging 15.4 million viewers, fourth for the week.

“Limitless” was the mostwatche­d new series, averaging 9.57 million viewers and winning its Tuesday 10-11 p.m. time slot for the third time in three weeks, finishing 17th for the week.

“Life in Pieces” was the most-watched new comedy, averaging 8.91 million viewers.

NBC finished first for the third week among the coveted viewing group of ages 18-to-49.

“The Walking Dead” was the week’s most-watched program among the group, averaging 9.42 million viewers, followed by “Sunday Night Football,” which averaged 8.79 million, and ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” which averaged 6.6 million.
