Police question Manziel in fight

-

Johnny Manziel promised he would win back the trust of the Cleveland Browns and teammates with his actions after a rocky rookie season.

After making significant strides in his second year in the NFL, a recent incident could raise concerns about the quarterback again.

Manziel was questioned by police after witnesses saw him arguing on the side of a highway with his girlfriend and pulling her back into his car as she tried to exit the vehicle. Manziel admitted to police that he had consumed alcohol before the dispute.

The former Heisman Trophy winner, who spent 10 weeks in a rehab facility during the off-season, was parked in a gravel driveway Monday when Avon, Ohio, police spoke to him following an argument with girlfriend Colleen Crowley.

Manziel wasn’t arrested, and Crowley told police she didn’t want to press charges against him. The couple was allowed to leave the scene together.

Hyde f ined; Beason blames Boone

San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde has been fined $23,152 by the NFL for using the crown of his helmet to make contact with New York Giants linebacker Jon Beason.

Beason sustained a concussion on the play, although he blamed 49ers guard Alex Boone for causing that. Boone was not fined by the league and no penalty was called.

Beason ripped Boone on Friday after returning to practice for the first time since being knocked out of the nationally televised game on the opening series.

“I think it was a coward move; didn’t show any sportsmanship or regard for another player or his career,” Beason said.

Boone said he doesn’t believe he is a dirty player, adding he is sorry that Beason feels the way he does.

In other fines, Seattle defensive end Michael Bennett must pay $20,000 for knocking down and diving on Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton.

Denver defensive end Malik Jackson was docked $17,363 for a horse-collar tackle against Oakland. Pittsburgh defensive end Cam Heyward was fined $5,787 for displaying a message with his eye black.

The Colts said on Monday that Luck, who missed the last two games with a sore right shoulder, had returned to full participation at practice. But Luck did only limited work for the last three days.

Etc.
