Madison Kocian of the U.S., China’s Fan Yilin, Russia’s Viktoria Komova and Daria Spiridonov­a made history at the world gymnastics championsh­ips in Glasgow, Scotland, tying for gold in the uneven bars when the judges awarded each the same score. There are no tiebreaker­s during world meets, meaning all four shared the top of the podium for the first time in the 112-year history of the event.

Indianapol­is Colts center Khaled Holmes, who suffered a minor neck injury in last Sunday’s game, has been ruled out for Monday night’s game against Carolina.

Justin Thomas birdied the final two holes for a five-under 67 and a share of the CIMB Classic lead with fellow American Brendan Steele at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The leaders were at 20-under 196.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy shot his third straight 67 to move to within a stroke of leaders Jaco van Zyl and Victor Dubuisson in the Turkish Airlines Open at Antalya, Turkey. Van Zyl and Dubuisson were at 16-under 200.

Taiwan’s Candie Kung bogeyed the final two holes in the windy Blue Bay LPGA to drop into a tie for the third-round lead with South Korea’s Sei Young Kim at even par at Hainan Island, China.

Nico Rosberg beat Lewis Hamilton to take his fourth consecutiv­e pole in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix at Mexico City. However, each of Rosberg ’s three previous pole positions ended in Hamilton victories.

Matt Crafton climbed back into the title hunt by winning NASCAR’s Truck Series race at Martinsvil­le, Va. Series leader Erik Jones was 10th and is three points up on Tyler Reddick and 10 ahead of Crafton with three races left.

American Ashley Wagner easily won the Skate Canada women’s title at Lethbridge, Canada. Skating to music from “Moulin Rouge,” the three-time U.S. champion scored 202.52 points with a program that included seven triple jumps. Canada’s Patrick Chan won the men’s title in his first event since the Sochi Olympics.

New Zealand became the first team to retain the Rugby World Cup after holding off a second-half rally by Australia to win, 34-17, in the final at London. Flyhalf Dan Carter steered the All Blacks to a record third global title with a dropped goal, a penalty and a conversion from Beauden Barrett’s breakaway try in the last 10 minutes at Twickenham.

Wally Dollase, trainer of Eclipse Award champions Itsallgree­ktome and Jewel Princess, died after a long illness in Kentucky. He was 78. Dollase had his greatest success from 1990 to 2006, winning 78 stakes, including 18 Grade I races. He twice won the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, with Deputy Commander in 1997 and Ten Most Wanted in 2003. Dollase had 522 victories in 3,014 races and purse earnings of $37,770,697, according to Equibase. His last active year was 2011. Funeral arrangemen­ts are pending.
