Nationals hire Maddux as pitching coach

The Washington Nationals hired Mike Maddux as pitching coach to replace Steve McCatty, whose contract was not renewed.

Maddux, 54, spent the last seven seasons as pitching coach of the Texas Rangers and held the same post with Milwaukee from 2003 to 2008.
