Sanchez will start for Philadelphia
Mark Sanchez, stepping in for injured Sam Bradford, will start at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Bradford was ruled out Friday with a concussion and a left shoulder injury.
Eagles Coach Chip Kelly said he has confidence in Sanchez, an eight-year veteran.
Also out for the Eagles is running back Ryan Mathews (concussion). Left tackle Jason Peters is questionable for the game with a back injury.
Rodgers probable against Vikings
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is probable for Sunday’s game at NFC North leader Minnesota.
Rodgers was able to practice this week, including full participation Thursday, despite going on the injury report for the first time this season with an unspecified injury to his throwing shoulder.
Coach Mike McCarthy has said Rodgers is banged up.
Green Bay (6-3) has lost three in a row and has fallen out of first place in the division, trailing the front-running Vikings by a game.
Also probable are running back Eddie Lacy (groin), receiver James Jones (quadriceps), linebacker Clay Matthews (ankle/knee) and offensive linemen David Bakhtiari (knee), Bryan Bulaga (knee) and Josh Sitton (knee). Guard T.J. Lang (shoulder), defensive back Micah Hyde (hip) and receiver Ty Montgomery (ankle) are questionable.
Brian Hoyer to sit
Houston Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer will miss Sunday’s game against the New York Jets as he recovers from a concussion.
T.J. Yates will make his first start since he was a rookie in the playoffs in January 2012. Yates took over in the third quarter on Monday night after Hoyer was injured and threw the gamewinning touchdown pass in a 10-6 victory at Cincinnati. Brandon Weeden, who was claimed off waivers on Wednesday after being released by Dallas, will back Yates up.
Lynch questionable
Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is questionable for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers because of an abdominal injury that has limited him the last two weeks.
Lynch first appeared on the team’s injury report last week after tweaking a muscle at the end of a practice. He was active and carried just eight times for 42 yards and a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals last week.
Lynch did not practice this week.
Wide
receiver
Paul Richardson will not play against San Francisco. Richardson was officially ruled out for the game after suffering a hamstring strain last week against Arizona.
Bruce Ir vin is also out for Seattle. Irvin suffered a sprained ligament in his right knee.
Palmer is f ined
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was fined $11,576 by the NFL for a celebratory gesture toward the crowd last Sunday.
Palmer pumped his fist and then added a pelvic thrust — drawing the fine for unsportsmanlike conduct — at the end of the Cardinals’ 39-32 win over the Seahawks in Seattle. He told ESPN he spotted his friends in the crowd and made the gesture at them, not at fans.
Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright was docked $23,152 for his personal foul on Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald in that game. Denver safety T.J. Ward was fined $10,000 for punching Kansas City receiver Jeremy Maclin.
Pittsburgh linebacker Arthur Moats was docked $8,681 for grabbing Cleveland quarterback Johnny Manziel’s facemask and twisting him down.

San Francisco running back Carlos Hyde will miss his third game with a stress fracture in his left foot. . . . The Oakland Raiders may be without starting center Rodney Hudson (ankle) when they face Detroit. . . . The Indianapolis Colts will be without Pro Bowl safety Mike Adams (ankle) for Sunday’s game at Atlanta. ... Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden (groin) is questionable for Sunday’s game against Miami. . . . The San Diego Chargers will retire LaDainian Tomlinson’s No. 21 jersey at halftime of their game Sunday against Kansas City.
