Natalie

Natalie, 8 Los Feliz Elementary, Los Angeles My name is Natalie. I am American. I am Mexican. When I say, “Lets eat!” I smell mac and cheese and gorditas. When I say “music!” I hear One Direction and Marc Anthony. When I say, “Beautiful landscape!” I see a river and palms. I am American. I am Mexican. My name is Natalie.

A Book

Abby, 11 Kaiser Elementary, Costa Mesa What has another world inside? A book. What sweeps you away to fantasy? A book. Where do fairies and demons exist? A book. Where are imaginary worlds that exist inside your mind? A book. What makes you feel that you could be great? A book. What is a sanctuary from the horror of the world? A book. But most of all, who makes these wonderful things happen? The author.

Winter’s Dance

Isabelle, 10 Magic Pen Kids, Irvine The snowflakes dance like graceful white fairies from the dark sapphire sky as pine trees sway to the music of the moonlight. Now, I step along slowly in my pitch-black boots on the soft gentle carpet of snow as the trails from my footsteps melt in the carpet and start to sing.

The Universe

Madison, 11 Meadows Elementary, Valencia Does the universe really go for infinity, or does the Earth have a different vicinity?

Perhaps the universe is one speck of dust, flying swiftly through a quick gust.

Nevertheless, we could be an apple in an apple tree, or maybe we are a germ on a giant’s foot, a ball, a room or a library book? Am I showing an example of asininity?

Or do we really have a different vicinity?

A Dream

Isabelle, 9 Magic Pen Kids, Irvine In dreams, I stroll in a garden where tall cypress trees are guardians to a magical world, where the grass is my audience and the daffodils dance to the lilting song of the waterfall and the air is filled with the whisper of butterflies’ wings.
