Make good on housing promise

Combining Adam Murray’s op- ed article on homelessness with the news last week of a British hotel company converting an old building into a hotel to add to the 4,000 rooms planned or under construction, it’s easy to see why the skid row population is being squeezed out to the suburbs where there are fewer services available to help.
The mayor and City Council of Los Angeles grabbed headlines in November by saying that there was a state of emergency with our homeless population and that they would set aside $ 100 million to help. Once the voters looked away, our leaders backtracked.
How can we pressure our elected officials to follow through by declaring an emergency and putting up the funds necessary to address this problem? Paul Elder Agoura Hills
