Cable firm says breach is possible
Time Warner Cable Inc. said the email addresses and passwords of about 320,000 of its customers nationwide may have been stolen by hackers.
The New York-based company said it was told by the FBI about the possible compromise and, as of late Thursday, had yet to determine how the information was stolen.
The company is contacting customers who may be affected and asking them to change their email passwords as a precaution.
The potentially stolen account information represents less than 2% of the total number of customer email accounts it manages, it said.
