A COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

-

EDUCATION PROVIDES THE ULTIMATE ATE PATHWAY to improving the lives of families, builds the fabric of our communities and develops the human capital necessary for prosperity. USC is proud of its success with federally funded programs, its partnerships with K- 12 and community colleges, and its unique development of local talent.

USC SCHOOL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION ( SECE) provides education and communal support to the children and families of Los Angeles. Founded in 1970, SECE operates fully licensed Head Start State Preschool childcare and development centers for children ages three to five, and home- based Early Head Start programs for infants. SECE also offers parenting classes, social services, health and nutrition support, and mentalhealth counseling.

KINDER 2 COLLEGE is a pilot project that aims to pair boys in first through third grade with mentors who help to develop their reading and writing skills.

USC FAMILY OF SCHOOLS consists of 15 schools surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences campuses. The program provides quality education to 17,000 children in the local neighborhoods. More than 4,500 USC students, faculty and staff work with thousands of parents, teachers, school administrators, neighbors, police officers and community representatives. They strive to make the community’s rich resources — including its institutions of higher learning, museums, libraries and recreational facilities — accessible to neighborhood children.
