Fantasy watch: The Chicago White Sox have made Miguel Gonzalez a permanent part of their rotation after he held Texas to one run in 5 2 ⁄3 innings in a spot start last week . ... Two managers are on the hot seat, Atlanta’s Fredi Gonzalez and Detroit’s Brad Ausmus, who told mlive.com, “I knew when I took this job, I was probably going to get fired before I walked away from it. How many managers walk away from a job?” ... Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta, who is seeking a contract extension, was asked if he will be looking for a bigger extension than Stephen Strasburg’s seven-year, $175-million deal. His answer: “I’ll let you judge that. Just look at the numbers. Financiall­y I’m fine, regardless. You want to be paid in respect to how your peers are paid.” Arrieta also said he would not give the Cubs a hometown discount. He is 42-13 with a 2.15 earned-run average since joining the team in 2013 . ... Strasburg looks at hometown discounts differentl­y from Arrieta, attributin­g his beliefs to Tony Gwynn, his coach at San Diego State: “He definitely had that sense of loyalty. I think there were certainly times in his career where he could’ve gone other places, but the city, San Diego, kind of grew on him, and he became an icon in that city. I’m not about to say that I’m going to be on his level here in D.C., but I think you do have some sort of sense of loyalty to the team that did draft you, at least speaking for myself.” ... Miami ace Jose Fernandez had this to say about new Manager Don Mattingly: “He is amazing. I’m in love with this team.” He went on to praise Mattingly’s demeanor and attention to detail . ... Zack Greinke of the Arizona Diamondbac­ks has given up 24 earned runs in five home starts this season. Last season he gave up 19 earned runs in 17 home starts at Dodger Stadium.
