Denying fame to terrorists

Re “French media shun terrorists’ photos,” July 29

How incredibly insightful of French news outlets to come up with this theory that refusing to show videos and photos of terrorists might discourage future attackers.

These people get free publicity from newspapers. Has no one in this country ever thought of that? They do these horrible things for recognition, and you, the American media, play right into their plan.

No photo should be published of the terrorists or of the victims’ grieving families. This is exactly what they want.

The media have given prestige to the title “terrorist.” But without publicity they would just be common thugs. Jo-Anne Collins Fountain Valley
