Kemp is traded to the Braves

The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Matt Kemp and $10.5 million from the San Diego Padres for outfielder Hector Olivera.

Kemp has a $21.5-million salary this year and is owed the same amount in each of the next three seasons. He is batting .262 with 23 home runs and 69 runs batted in.

Olivera is owed $32.5 million through 2020. He is eligible to play again in the major leagues Tuesday after serving an 82-game suspension for domestic violence.
