Estate from a pillar of design
Architect-to-the-stars Wallace Neff designed this neoclassical residence for Ralph J. Chandler, a shipbuilding magnate and nephew of former Los Angeles Times publisher Harry Chandler.
Completed in 1960, the Hancock Park estate recalls the Pavillon de Musique du Barry, with four Ionic columns lining a half-moon front porch. Inside, grand formal spaces are embellished with elaborate crestings, gold-leaf details and herringbone wood floors.
