Julio Jones returns to practice

Julio Jones joined practice for the first time this week, increasing his chances to play in the Atlanta Falcons’ game at New Orleans on Monday night. After being held out Thursday and Friday with a calf injury from last week’s win at Oakland, Jones was limited in Saturday’s practice. Rookie strong safety Keanu Neal is expected to make his debut against the Saints. Neal, a first-round pick from Florida, had preseason arthroscop­ic knee surgery and missed the first two games.

Pass-rushing linebacker Clay Matthews will miss the Green Bay Packers’ game on Sunday against Detroit because of ankle and hamstring injuries. Green Bay also will be without Morgan Burnett after the starting safety was ruled out because of a groin injury. … Cleveland Browns kicker Patrick Murray was placed on injured reserve after hurting his surgically repaired left knee in practice, forcing the team to sign kicker Cody Parkey. … The Jacksonvil­le Jaguars have promoted rookie offensive lineman Rashod Hill from the practice squad to the active roster and released receiver Bryan Walters.

Elliott Sadler took the lead with four laps remaining and held off Daniel Suarez by 0.246 of a second to win the inaugural NASCAR Xfinity Series Chase race Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. Ryan Blaney was third.

In the first Chase race in NASCAR’s Trucks Series, at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, William Byron dominated to win for the sixth time this season. Christophe­r Bell was second.
