Breitling Huntington Beach Airshow arrives in Surf City

-

Look, up in the sky! Sleek jet planes are spinning around, making steep turns, rolling and looping in the air.

Aerobatics has often been described as a daring, gravity and death-defying ballet with engines and wings. It is both thrilling and somewhat terrifying to watch from below as the pilots and aircraft dance across the sky.

Where better to watch these aerobatic maneuvers than from the sands of Huntington Beach?

The Breitling Huntington Beach Airshow – the only beachfront airshow ever – takes place Oct. 21-23. It is the first time that the France-based Breitling Jet Team, the largest professional civilian aerobatic group, will appear here as part of its inaugural American tour. The seven-pilot team has travelled and performed in airshows throughout Europe, Asia and Africa since it was founded in 2003.

This also is the first airshow to take place in Huntington Beach in 24 years.

Presented by title sponsor Breitling, the Swiss precision watch company, the airshow will be held over the Pacific Ocean along the two-mile stretch between the Huntington Beach Pier and Magnolia Street. Flying begins at noon each day with many of the aerobatic maneuvers happening over the “show center” at Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway.

This intersection also is the location of Aviation Boulevard, a designated area for exhibitors, vendors and food sellers. Look for exhibits of the latest Breitling watches, Ford cars, Suzuki motorcycles and ATVs. Don’t pass up the chance to take a test drive in a flight simulator.
