Iowa State sinks No. 3 Kansas

Deonte Burton made seven three-point baskets and scored 29 points, Monte Morris scored 25 and Iowa State rallied from a big halftime deficit to beat No. 3 Kansas, 92-89, in overtime Saturday, ending at 51 the Jayhawks’ winning streak at Allen Fieldhouse.

Naz Mitrou-Long had six three-pointers and 22 points for the Cyclones (14-8, 6-4 Big 12 Conference), who had a school-record 18 threepoint­ers and forced the Jayhawks (20-3, 8-2) into 21 turnovers.

They also overcame an outstandin­g effort by Frank Mason III, who had a careerbest 32 points.

It was 82-82 at the end of regulation but a basket by Morris and Burton’s last three-pointer gave the Cyclones a cushion. The Jayhawks cut the deficit to 87-86 on a free throw by Josh Jackson, but Morris answered with a deft baseline pass to Donovan Jackson, whose three-pointer with 26.7 seconds left silenced the crowd.

at No. 1 Gonzaga 90, Santa Clara 55: Jordan Mathews scored 16 points, Josh Perkins had 15 and the Bulldogs (24-0, 12-0 West Coast Conference) extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 24 games. Gonzaga shot 60% from the field and was in control almost from the start. KJ Feagin scored 18 points for the Broncos (1312, 7-5), who have lost 14 consecutiv­e games to Gonzaga.

Kansas State 56, at No. 2 Baylor 54: Kamau Stokes scored 15 points and the Wildcats (16-7, 5-5 Big 12) held off a late rally to hand the Bears (20-3, 7-3) their first home loss. Baylor got 17 points and 14 rebounds from Johnathan Motley.

Oklahoma State 82, at No. 7 West Virginia 75: Phil Forte scored all 13 of his points in the second half, including nine points in the last five minutes, and the Cowboys (15-8, 4-6 Big 12) won their fifth game in a row. Lamont West scored a season-high 21 points for the Mountainee­rs (18-5, 6-4).

at No. 24 Florida 88, No. 8 Kentucky 66: Kasey Hill scored 21 points and the Gators (18-5, 8-2 Southeaste­rn Conference) ended at five games a losing streak in the series. Canyon Barry chipped in 14 points and KeVaughn Allen finished with 12 for the Gators, who outran the Wildcats (18-5, 8-2). at Syracuse 66, No. 9 Virginia 62: Tyus Battle and Andrew White each scored 23 points to help the Orange (15-9, 7-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) extend their winning streak to four games. Kyle Guy had 14 points for the Cavaliers (17-5, 7-3).

at No. 19 South Carolina 77, Georgia 75: PJ Dozier scored seven of his 21 points in the final 2:21 and the Gamecocks (19-4, 9-1 SEC) swept the two-game regularsea­son series with the Bulldogs (13-10, 4-6) for the first time in eight years.

Xavier 82, at No. 22 Creighton 80: J.P. Macura scored 13 of his 15 points in the second half, and the Musketeers (17-6, 7-3 Big East Conference) used a 19-7 spurt to turn a 66-59 deficit into a 78-73 lead with two minutes to play. Marcus Foster had 17 points for the Bluejays (20-4, 7-4).

No. 23 Purdue 73, No. 17 Maryland 72: Carsen Edwards made two free throws with 2.1 seconds left and the Boilermake­rs (19-5, 8-3 Big Ten Conference) knocked the Terrapins (20-3, 8-2), who had won seven games in a row, out of first place in the conference. Caleb Swanigan scored 26 points for Purdue.
