All-Star guard Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors will have surgery Tuesday to remove loose bodies from his right wrist but hopes to return in time for the playoffs.

Lowry took part in All-Star festivitie­s in New Orleans last week, competing in the threepoint contest and playing the next night in the All-Star game. But he said he has experience­d constant soreness since then.

Free-agent guard Deron Williams signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who might also be adding veteran Andrew Bogut after the 7-foot Australian was waived by the Philadelph­ia 76ers. Bogut reportedly also will talk with the Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets before making a decision . ... The New York Knicks will end the season without veterans Brandon Jennings and Joakim Noah after Jennings was waived and Noah had arthroscop­ic surgery on his left knee . ... The 76ers announced that center Joel Embiid would be sidelined indefinite­ly because of a left knee injury. The third pick in the 2014 draft sat out his first two seasons while recovering from foot surgery . ... The Brooklyn Nets waived veteran forward Luis Scola.

The Ottawa Senators, gearing up for a push to the playoffs, acquired veteran forward Alex Burrows from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for prospect Jonathan Dahlen. Burrows, 35, played in 822 regularsea­son games with the Canucks, with 193 goals, 191 assists and 1,066 penalty minutes. He had 19 goals and 15 assists in 70 playoff games . ... The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Brian Boyle in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning, sending a 2017 second-round pick and minor league forward Byron Froese to the Lightning . ... In an exchange of defensemen, the Montreal Canadiens acquired Jordie Benn from the Dallas Stars for Greg Pateryn and a fourth-round pick in this year’s draft . ... Defenseman Nick Jensen, who would have been a restricted free agent in July and could have been exposed in the NHL expansion draft to stock the Vegas Golden Knights, agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings.

Bond has been set at $750,000 for Creighton basketball player Maurice Watson Jr., who is charged in Nebraska with firstdegre­e sexual assault for allegedly forcing a 19-year-old Omaha woman into having nonconsens­ual sex.

Mississipp­i State football Coach Dan Mullen received a contract extension through the 2020 season. The school announced that Mullen, who is entering his ninth year with the Bulldogs, will make a base salary of $4.5 million in 2017.

Slugger Josh Hamilton’s bid to make the Texas Rangers’ opening day roster has ended after another surgery on his balky left knee.
