Aldridge returns, but Spurs are defeated

Damian Lillard scored 36 points and the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 110106, on Wednesday night, spoiling LaMarcus Aldridge’s return from a health scare.

Aldridge had 19 points and seven rebounds at San Antonio, playing 32 minutes after missing two games with a minor heart arrhythmia. He was cleared Wednesday morning.

Patty Mills’ three-pointer brought the Spurs to within a point of Portland with less than 10 seconds left, but Lillard made four straight free throws for the Trail Blazers.

Dallas Nowitzki 112, scoredat Washington­10 of his 20 107: pointsDirk in the fourth quarter, helping lift the Mavericks. Wizards guard John Wall had 26 points and 11 assists despite briefly leaving the game in the second quarter because of a sprained left foot.

Utah 97, at Detroit 83: The Jazz won for the sixth time in seven games as Gordon Hayward scored 25 points and George Hill added 17. Aron Baynes had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons.

at Boston 117, Minnesota 104: Isaiah Thomas scored 27 points and the Celtics earned their 11th straight home win over the Timberwolv­es while increasing their lead to 11⁄2 games over Washington for second place in the Eastern Conference. Ricky Rubio scored 23 for Minnesota.

Memphis 98, at Chicago 91: Mike Conley and Marc Gasol scored 18 of the Grizzlies’ 24 points in the fourth quarter to send the Bulls to their sixth loss in seven games. The Bulls were without Dwyane Wade down the stretch after he injured his right elbow and did not return.

at Indiana 98, Charlotte 77: Paul George made six three-pointers and finished with 39 points for Indiana, used a 15-0 run in the second half to ultimately shut the door on the Hornets. Frank Kaminsky led Charlotte with 20 points.

at Miami 120, New Orleans 112:

Goran Dragic had 33 points for the Heat, who are 14-1 in their last 15 at home. Anthony Davis scored 27 for the Pelicans.

Sacramento 107, at Phoenix 101:

Rookie Skal Labissiere lifted the Kings, getting 21 of his career-high 32 points in the fourth quarter.
