New chief for rail project?

The California HighSpeed Rail Authority will hold a closed session in San Francisco on Monday to consider appointing a new chief executive. Current chief Jeff Morales exits in June after a five-year tenure that saw mixed results. Constructi­on of the f irst rail segment of the bullet train began in late 2015, but the project has fallen behind schedule and costs have ballooned to $64 billion.
