76ers may obtain Celtics’ No. 1 pick

The Philadelph­ia 76ers are reported to be in talks with the Boston Celtics to acquire Boston’s No. 1 overall pick in next week’s NBA draft so that the 76ers can draft Washington guard Markelle Fultz. The story was first reported by the Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowsk­i.

According to the report, Philadelph­ia would send Boston it’s No. 3 overall pick for next week’s draft plus a future first-round pick.

The Philadelph­ia Inquirer reported that Boston, which has been widely expected to draft Fultz, is interested in taking Kansas guard/forward Josh Jackson.

The Milwaukee Bucks stayed inhouse to fill their general manager vacancy.

The team named director of basketball operations Jon Horst as its next GM on Friday. He will replace John Hammond, who left last month to become the Orlando Magic’s general manager.

Horst, 34, had been director of basketball operations since 2008, serving under Hammond. Horst was involved in personnel evaluation, salary cap management and contract negotiatio­ns.

Monta Ellis of the Indiana Pacers and Reggie Bullock of the Detroit Pistons have been suspended five games under the NBA’s anti-drug program. The league announced the suspension­s Friday without disclosing details of the violations.

The 31-year-old Ellis averaged 8.5 points a game for Indiana last season. The 26-year-old Bullock averaged 4.5 points in 2016-17.
