Ravens consider Kaepernick

-

Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Joe Flacco would miss at least the first week of training camp because of a back injury.

Harbaugh said that the Ravens likely would bring in another quarterback and haven’t ruled out signing Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick played in 12 games for San Francisco last season, throwing for 2,241 yards with 16 touchdowns and four interceptions.

There is some familiarity because Kaepernick played for Harbaugh’s brother, Jim, with the 49ers. He led them to the 2013 Super Bowl, where they lost to the Ravens.

The only other quarterbacks currently in camp are Ryan Mallett and Dustin Vaughan, a secondyear player from Division II West Texas A&M.

The Ravens also lost offensive lineman John Urschel, who decided to retire from the NFL after three seasons.

Devontae Booker, who is pushing to unseat C.J. Anderson as the starting running back for the Denver Broncos, will undergo wrist surgery Friday and is expected to miss six weeks.

Marreese Speights, a reserve center for the Clippers last season, signed a one-year deal worth $2.1 million with the Orlando Magic.

A judge ordered Baylor University to turn over to plaintiffs’ attorneys records of all cases of sexual assault and harassment since 2003 in a lawsuit against the nation’s largest Baptist school. A group of women is suing Baylor, claiming the school in Texas mishandled or ignored claims of sexual assault for years.

Baylor officials wanted to provide the court with a summary of cases. They cited privacy concerns for students not part of the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman in Waco said that the assault reports will be covered by a protective order against public release.
