Kendrick goes to Nationals

Howie Kendrick, the former Dodger and Angel, was traded by the Philadelph­ia Phillies to the Washington Nationals on Friday night for minor league starting pitcher McKenzie Mills and internatio­nal slot money.

Despite a number of injuries, Kendrick was hitting .340 with a .397 on-base percentage in 39 games with the Phillies.

The Phillies also scratched right-hander Jeremy Hellickson from his scheduled start Friday night and traded him to Baltimore. Etc.

The Tampa Bay Rays continued to bolster their bullpen for the pennant race, acquiring reliever Steve Cishek from the Seattle Mariners for versatile righthande­r Erasmo Ramirez . ...
