WEEKEND SOCCER ON TV

- — Kevin Baxter

German power Bayern Munich and English Premier League leader Manchester City hope to a stay hot against struggling league opponents while Cristiano Ronaldo looks for his first goal of the season for skidding Real Madrid in televised European soccer action this weekend:

Bundesliga: Tensions between the players and management and the loss of captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer until January with a broken foot haven’t slowed Bayern Munich, which got three goals from Robert Lewandowski in wins over Mainz and Schalke in the last six days. Bayern will try to keep that going Friday when it plays host to Wolfsburg (FS2, Univision, 11:30 a.m. PT). English Premier League: Manchester City is tied for the league lead with crosstown rival Manchester United and both teams also lead the EPL with 16 goals. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, is winless and goal-less five games and two coaches into the season. So expect City’s Sergio Aguero to pad his stats when the EPL’s best and worst teams meet Saturday (NBCSN, NBC Universo, 7 a.m. PT).

La Liga: Ronaldo returned from a five-game suspension Wednesday but was of little help in a loss to Betis that marked Real Madrid’s first scoreless match in 74 games. Real and Ronaldo will try to put that behind them Saturday against Alaves (beIN Sports, 7 a.m. PT). Lionel Messi, meanwhile, has nine goals in five games for unbeaten Barcelona, which visits Girona on Saturday (beIN Sports, 11:30 a.m. PT).
