Kentucky lands five-star guard

Five-star point guard prospect Immanuel Quickley has committed to Kentucky.

Quickley, who made the announceme­nt at his high school (John Carroll of Bel Air, Md.), played for Wildcats coach John Calipari on the USA Men’s Under-19 World Cup team in June. He’s the first commit for Kentucky in the 2018 class.

Kentucky hosted top prospect R.J. Barrett earlier this month and another blue chipper, Zion Williamson, is making his official visit this weekend.

Women’s basketball coach Geno Auriemma has offered to give up his more than $2 million in salary next year in response to criticism over high salaries at Connecticu­t amid a state budget battle . ...
